They write that when they make a post for no other reason than to send a post to the top of the board so it will be noticed.

Bumping is a way to bring a topic that is freefalling back to the top of the page. If your topic seems to be sinking, we would rather you bump it back up than post a totally new one - that's called spamming.
 If your topic keeps freefalling after even a couple of bumps, you may need to accept the fact that it might not be that interesting to everyone. Happens to everyone - don't take it personally.  ------------------
