Turn off some of the sounds and animations in the graphic setup option (game config program in the BG2 folder) and turn 3D support off.

Also, turn off any applications running within Windows in the background. Those little buggers can eat up a lot of RAM if many are running.

Make sure you've done a full install, that'll quickn the game up alot.
They always lie about the requirments as well........ They're just trying to get more people to buy it. ------------------

I have a P2 350,128mb RAM,Banshee,soundblaster 128,and i still have most settings near minimum(graphics and sound),i play in 800x600 in software mode and it's still slow at times.

turn the movement sounds off in particular, if you are useing onboard sound which relies wuite heavily on the cpu and uses system memory then your machine will be further bogged down.
