I'm currently in the Mindflayer Dungeon off of Underdark.
About every 20-30 seconds of gameplay, 4 mindflayers teleport in on top of my main character and quickly proceed to kill him. It's gotten so bad that on occasion, I'm not even done dispatching one set of 4 flayers, and another set teleport in. Fighting four of them usually results in the death of one or two of my characters. I am using chaotic commands. Unfortunately, my main fighters have low intelligence (5 and 6). I do not presently have any potions which would raise this. Do these flayers just keep coming endlessly??? If so, how do you finish this dungeon when all your time is spent fighting these flayers which teleport in??? Is there something I have to do to stop them from appearing (ie. switch off some flayer generating machine)??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Drink potion of intelligence to rise it to 25. Chaotic command is good but what I learned about Mind flayers and others big creature like this one, It is not always good to fight. Cast inv 10 radius over all tour party and try to sneek out wihtout fighting all of them. Improved Inv reduce their thac0 by 4 after you'r first move while inv. mirror image/ blur/ invisibility are all good spell to make a defense against their eat-brain attack.

Unfortunately, those annoying pest will keep spawning every now and then, your objective is to make haste (and grab any loot you see along the way) and get out of there. Eventually in the mindflayer dungeon you will get access to a room which produce several brine potions (it makes you immune to most of their attacks), take all available in the room and use them wisely.
One of the item (as it has been advocated by many) is the wand of cloudkill, normal cloudkill spells are useless against these brain suckers, but a wand does the "magic". (never leave home without one) Mean while, try to summon skeletons (as many as possible), they are immune to mindflayer's special attacks and they don't have a brain for them to suck. While the mindflayers are busy with skeletons, you can hack and slash them. ------------------ Long live H22A1!!!!! |
