Well, u should definitely not dual from maage to Kensai becuase your kensai will have very low life and and very power as a mage.
Dual your Kensai about level 12 so u can still reach the highest level for a mage. but if u want level 9 should be good enough. ------------------ Mess with the best Die like the Rest!! |

If I was going to dual a character, I would start with a fighter and dual at level 9 to a mage, or level 13 if I had removed the experience cap.
You can only choose a 'kit' for the first class, so it would have to be Kensai then Mage. Also this is the sensible way round to do it: i) because fighters need more exp points to level up, so it would take longer to reach level 10 as a fighter than as a mage (meaning that your initial class skills would be inactive for longer). ii) because you can no longer develop with your initial class once you have dualled - the spell slots you had when dualling if Mage was the initial class would be all you could have for the rest of the game - no chance of learning higher level spells. ------------------ ![]() Time is an illusion. 2 things: You can not dual to a kit, so dualing to kensai is impossible without cheating. And if you dual a kensai at 12 you miss getting another kai which happens at level 13.

first of all, it is your game, you play the way you want. we only offer options
second, what the hell is a kensai/mage? some kind genius both good at sword art and magic art? third, if you really want to dual, here are two options: level 10, you will be 10/16 at the end, not missing a single level of spells. also, level 10 grants you extra bonus. or, level 13, this is a bit fighter heavy type. you will miss a few spells, but you are a strong fighter. |

I dualed mine over at 7th level (th estart of the game). This way I could revive my fighter skilla shortly after Jon's dungeon. Also, felt that the xp expenditure (read time) was not worth the small gains going to 9th or (gosh) 13th level. At higher level, you will better options than going toe to toe as a tank. I do occasionally send mine into the fray, but only as backup. He is a mage first and foremost, although protection from normal weapons, haste, blur and a zillion ***s in two handed sword (wielding the sword of chaos) do pretty much make him a butt kicker. Hmmmm... Maybe I should have waited before dualing.
![]() IMHO- the Kensai/mage is best for role playing. Your character could be the really intense type that discovers something new, goes all out to master it and then does something new. I think it would actually fit the type of personality that would become a high level magic user. It has real possibilities as the main baddy NPC. Your party could be in conflict with an archmage that they have not met yet. He or she is aware of the party and wants to "know the enemy". So they meet and even adventure with a brash sword saint for a period of time, never being aware that their nemesis is amongst them. ![]() ------------------ - Cayle |
