I just started BG as a halfling thief/mage and am 1/2 way through chapter 2 but I've just read in the BG2 manual (pg 235) that halflings can only multi-class as a fighter/thief? does anyone know if I can import my character without any probs? I would check myself but I don't have BG2 installed at the moment.

Well, ehhm, As far as I know Halflings cannot be a mage, Not in BG1 or BG2 are you sure you made a halfling thief/mage?

Mage/Thief woulf actually be a damned good class for a Halfling, due to their 19 DEX, 18 INT, and bonus with the Sling. Except that Halflings can't be Mage/Thieves, they can't be Mages at all. You may have performed some "creative experimentation" to achieve this class, or you may have some corrupted weirdo version of BG1 that lets you create that sort of chracter--another guy said that his tweaked-out copy of the game let him create a Lawful Evil Paladin.
