Find Familiar

Can anyone offer assistance with the mage spell Find Familiar?

I've tried, and tried but can't seem to get this damn spell to work. Based on my allignment, a cat should be called. I've tried this spell just about everywhere but can't ever get a result. I have the license to cast magic in town. I see plenty of cats. I've tried it out of town. I've cast it on myself. I've cast it on the ground. I've cast it on the cat. Can somebody please give me a in depth description of how to cast this FIRST LEVEL SPELL! It's driving me nuts!

Ya, dude, you should be a Conjurer in order to summon Familairs. You know, some one who summons beasties.

But how can you summon a Familair of you are a Beastmaster. If I try I get the message that I should be an Conjurer, or something like that ?

Are you a standard mage, or did you choose a specialty mage? I know that a standard Mage should have no problem finding his/her familiar. If you are and you do have trouble it may be a bug, or a corrupt file. I had no problem getting mine.
If you chose a specialist mage, then that may be your problem. As they can only cast magics in their chosen field, if you chose a field that doesn't allow summoning or whatever familiar is classified as, that may be the problem.

are you casting it with your main character? If not i have no idea why it dosen't work.

Only main character is allowed to find his/her familiar and no need to be a Conjurer, but as Relic said, diviners cant read Conjurer spells. Are you a Diviner ?? I think not because in that case I think you wouldnt be able to put the scroll in the quickslot.

No. Only your main character can summon a familiar. Unless there's a cheat I'm unaware of...

And use it as a scroll. There's no sense learning a spell you'll only use once.
