i have always like archers. ad&d or any other games.
i have a few questions with archer proficiency distribution. why do we get 2 slots in "two weapon proficiency" when we create an archer? would it help my archer if i add points to "two handed weapon" proficiency? |

All ranger classes get 2 free points in the two weapon style.
Styles do not effect bow and such, so No to the two handed. |

you can only specialize in melee weapons. you can go grand mastery in missle weapons. i have a 15th level elven archer, with the elven court bow, and he is ungodly cool. i have a character of EVERY class in the game exported. no all kits, but at least on of all class. as long as you arent getting penalized, you will be able to hit stuff. i put one in two handed weapon style, just so i can use two handed weapons faster. also, carry a blunt weapon with a +2 bonus, just so you can kill golems. a good blade is a great idea too.

Hey Ben, welcome to the board
You get the two bonus points to the two weapon proficiency because you are a ranger, and rangers are traditionally the class that fights with two handweapons at the same time. It would not help your archery to spend points on the twohanded weapon proficiency, but you'll be able to make better use of doublehanded close combat weapons if you do. And as the archer can't carry a shield or a second handweapon while carrying a bow as well, doublehanded weapons are likely to become your favourite choice when it comes to close combat fighting. You could spend your point on halberds or twohanded swords instead, if you are fairly certain you will come to use one of them. (And chances are you will) Oh, and I think you've posted the same topic twice, so please delete one of them (which you can do by clicking the 'edit/delete' button above your first post) |
