Aren't reduced saving throws a good thing? If you're saving throw drops you have better chance to make it. A saving throw of 13 means you have 8 numbers you can roll and make the throw (13 through 20). A saving throw of 15 means you only have 6. Or am I reading this wrong?

Correct O drunken dwarf. The game is played with a 20 sided die. The saving throw number is the minimum score you need for a successful save, therefore if all you need is a 5, that is great, but if you need a 19, you are quite dead.

BTW - that is why "-" to save is bad and "+" to save is good.
If you get +4 on your saves vs. charm, and your save vs. spell is 13, a roll of 10 would get +4 and you would effectively get a 14, thus making the save. If you save -2 vs. a spell, that is bad, because if u needed 13 and you rolled a 14, it would be 12 and you would fail your save. When u read the wizard and cleric spells, ones that have "-" to save are more powerful, ones that have "+" to save are weaker - since you are on the offensive end of the field when you are the caster. |
