I was thinking all skills maxed at 100 before bonuses...is this true?

I believe so, yes...when a character's primary skill (that they get a 25% bonus in) maxes out naturally at 100, it will be 125...plus any item bonuses.

I agree. Any other boosts above 125 (speed, intelligence, etc.) gets truncated. The spell defenses are different, though. I think the max is about 255 but you will never see it as the stats don't show it. There is a "wrap-around bug" that actually starts over at zero if the number exceeds 255. I have seen it with Divinity defense a number of times. This can be sneaky, you may only notice if you look at your spell defense levels when Soul Shield is at battlefield max.

According to a thread from a while back, it's actually possible to experience a speed wraparound if you're using speed items like snakeskin boots combined with both haste and superman, so it seems there are maximums for basic stats as well as resistances.

Remember also, you can only contribute points to skills at level up to a max of 75, then only through use can you raise the "natural" skill to 100.

Hi all, my second contribution after the LotR one, but let me say again that I haven't played Wiz8 yet (still waiting for my copy to arrive...). As I gathered from the forum if one of the attibutes reaches 100 you can gain a power skill.

1) How do you gain it? Is there anything that you need to do, or do you get it automatically?

2) Would it be possible to have more than one of those power skills? Is it possible to raise two or more attributes to 100+, minding that char levels are capped at 50 (as I believe they are)? If yes, can you then gain a second, third, etc. power skill?

@Legolas: You gain access to the 'power' skills when your stats reach 100 (not skills). Usually, stats only increase when you invest points on level-up (one exception). Once you reach that point, you immediately have the new skill (at skill level 0).

You usually have several of these 'power' skills, if you concentrate you stat points (on level-up) on a few key stats. Usually its around 3 skills at game end, where your characters will be between level 20 and 30. I have a duo somewhere out there at level 42; at level 50, the fighter will gain his 6th power skill.

Hi !!! (sorry for my english - I`m from Poland)
And what about ressistances ? Will it be any diffrence if I cast for example Element Shield during battle if I had ressistances on 100 before it ? In other words - can my ressistances be higher than 100 ? It`s important when I play Expert Ironman.

Yes, you effective resistance can be higher than 100, although it is not displayed. But be careful not to get your resistances too high - if they are higher than 255, they get very low. if you use several items with high divine resistance bonus, check your resistances after you cast soul shield. If they become red, better change your equipement before the next fight. It's very unlikely that the roll-over happenes with other resistances (not that much items with high bonus)

auto.

and here's your gains, from one of my posts umpteen years ago.

Attributes over 100 confer the following:

STR: Power Strike~~ ability to strike a weapon so hard, it has greatly increased chance of penetration.

INT: Power Cast~~ ability to cast a spell with such force that it increases the original effectiveness and duration and makes it more difficult to resist.

PIE: Iron Will~~ Strengthened mental and physical will that increases the char's resistance to such things as magickal spells and side effects of phys attks (paralysis, fear, etc)

VIT: Iron Skin~~ Strengthened mental and physical will that allows a char to absorb dmg, reducing actual phys dmg done to her. This skill has NO effect on magickal dmg, however.

DEX: Reflextion~~ Increases a char's A/C by allowing the char to move so fast that a double image is created.

SPD: Snakespeed~~ Allows chars to move with lightning reflexes increasing their personal initiative.

SNS: Eagle Eye~~ The ability to successfully hit and penetrate a creature with a ranged weapon.

V***V

PS: your skills will continue to rise above 100 thru use, even tho you cannot add more points.

maximum for attributes and skills is 125.
for instance, items that add +20 and +10 senses to 100 SNS, max is always 125. if your polearm is 118 and use the dread spear, +20 polearm, you get 125, not 138.

skills above 75 can only increase through training.
