..I'm bored!
Are there no other "turn-based" Rpg's or strategy games out there, which I havn't discovered? Something like this or Diciples 2? Kakero, you've been away for a while; what you been up to? Dplax, anything juicy out there! Nightowl2, have you been playing other games behind my back! Ziggy, help me! ..and anybody else for that matter! I think Knights of the Old Republic may be worth it. Almost bought it. Real close. Heard good things about it although Star Wars has less glamor than I was hoping for in the movies. Let us know if you get it. Other than that, I am waiting and searching like you are.

Well, if you haven't looked into it already, you could try Blades of Exile. Very retro stuff, circa Ultima 3 or so, and the graphics are old-fashioned. However, it's turn-based. Party of six, but you can go with less if you like. The three scenarios that come with it are mediocre, but there are a LOT of user mods for it, and those are all free. Should keep you occupied for awhile.
They just came out with Blades of Avernum, but I'd go with BoE because there are so many more scenarios for it. Find it at: http://www.spidweb.com You can download the game and try it for free. Buy it and they give you a code to unlock the whole thing. |

Ok, I'll take a look, thanks.
I heard last week that the origainal Final Fantasy has been improved as far as graphics and game engine. Does anybody know where to find this and does it also play on a ROM?

I've been the same as you. I felt like a change and bought Knights of the Old Republic. Not bad although there's segments in it which require good reflexes for which I'm woefully inept. You play one character and recruit two others and there's, I think, nine possible player combinations you can be, eg Soldier/Guardian, Scout/Sentinel, Scoundrel/Consular etc. |

When I got bored with Wizardry I tried out Baldurs Gate II and Neverwinter Nights. I liked both of them because of the fact that you could pause them, therefore having time to plan your actions. But sometimes I still return to play wizardry, its just soooo replayable.

I took some time off Wiz8 to play Morrowind, which I enjoyed, but it isn't turn based. Not a lot of strategy in that game either. Planning on getting KotOR next. Sounds like a fun game, and those 'action sequences' which Krull mentioned seem like a nice addition to the RPG stuff.

Ever since the state government mass ban all computer games sales since August last year. I don't have any more new computer games to play. So currently I'm replaying back Morrowind and Diablo 2 LOD.
I would replay Wizardry 8 back too but it seems that it won't support my ATI Radeon 8500. [ 09-06-2004, 10:40 AM: Message edited by: Kakero ] |

I'm really leary about those type of games. I've tried Icewind Dale and although it looked great the pause thing was just stupid. Temple of Elemental Evil and Pool of Radiance are 2 of the best Top-down turn-based RPG's so far. I don't understand why they don't just cater to everyone and make it optional. With PoR the slowest real-time setting was turn-based!
I did just find Final Fantasy 5 for the SNES ROM on some site I don't remember. I looks just like FF2 for SNES. Maybe I'll mess around with it for a while.
