It should add to close combat at least.

Dragon Breath can help at very low levels. Otherwise pretty useless. But a Dracon is a pretty good fighter and survivor. A Dracon Lord works pretty well, too. Not very good for pure magic, of course.

I've found it useful in the swamp and the mines when swarms of low hit point bugs attack you. Other than that, it doesn't do enough damage to be worth the effort. Especially since mid level dracon fighters can easily do upwards of 200hp damage per round, the breath weapon seems pretty weak late in the game.

I'm running a party of 6 Dracon valks I will check about skill improvement
next time i do a combat with just breath weapon. what i have found out about
damage is it does about 10 points of damagage per monster if the monster is
the same level as you. for every level above or below it about a +/- 1 point
of damage. with 6 dracons you can do 60 points of damage to every monster
its a great way to open a battle.

How do you get along with lockpicking etc? I know they can have Divine Trap but what about high level traps where you need Knock Knock instead?

Thanks.

I bash alot And buy knock knock picks and scrols
one of my Valks has a hat and a thiefs buckler
and has lock pick skill of 20. Good enough for
3 tumbler locks. I did get caught in one of the
retro dungeons with only one scrol and it fizzeled
on me. took me forever to bash the 6 tumbler lock
to get out!!!

If you take a rogue level for stealth, you can work L&T up as high as you want by continuously klicking the magnifier on the chest-trap pop-up. I usually read while i do that, using the sound to tell me when to click again.

Had a fight with my party of 6 Valk Dracons and only used breath weapon.
took 4 rounds to kill all the monsters and did not gain in any skill levels.
so i think the answer is no but i will try it once more to be sure.

try another fight this time only using 2 valks
still no skill improvement. So you dont get any
skill improvement when using just breath weapon
