Hi all,
I've been thinking too much about getting 3 Diamond eyes. I've seen posts here about trick killing Umpani's while staying on their friendly side by overloading area damage spells and forcing a backfire. I have a corellary question to that situation: 1) If I lured a monster in the room after summoning Das the first time, could I kill him with a similar trick? 2) Would he possibly drop DE? 3) Would he show up again on the 4th bough after I get the idol? Thanks!

That Das is just a vision, and i don't think anyone has managed to affect it in any way.

You can definitely kill him however when you are taking the idol to him. I am not sure though how often he drops DE's.

Yah, and if you attack him from the dialog screen, the guards behind him will help YOU!
I have no idea how often DE drops, though, i've always PP'd it if i want two. If i only want one, i get it from the Barrow. I haven't wanted three yet... |

Thanks Scatter, I was afraid of that. I tried attacking him last time on the 7th bough, and it never let me, just like if you try to go after bubblehead in the swamp.
As for DE drop rates from Das, Lanastasia's site www.flamestryke.com says there is a 1.99% chance of a drop, and he drops from 4-6 items per kill. Which sounds about right, I've got it from killing him within 5 or 6 tries all 4 times I've done him.

You can get the DE from him on 7th bough. It's definitely not easy though. He's in the unkillable status, like Bela or Rapax Prince, and those can be killed by hitting them with "misguided" projectiles.
So the steps are: 1.) get into combat. 2.) run to Shaman 3.) [to make things easier] summon an elemental close to Shaman 4.) Paralyze/Web it, and move somewhere that Shaman is almost making it impossible to hit from afar (just changing from red to green). 5.) Shoot your elemental, and heal it. Since you're going for DE probably it's best to do step 5 until Shaman has a one-digit HP, then kill the elemental, save, repeat 1-5 & reload until you're happy. Edit: Forgot to mention that backfiring spells don't work, since he's not an ally. Monsters doing area spells to affect you will ignore shaman just like spells you use on monsters, he's completely neutral there. [ 04-09-2004, 09:04 AM: Message edited by: ferro287 ] |
