Greetings again.
My current (expert) team is proceeding quite nicely (the bishops have portal now, speeds up things nicely). However, I have run into an unforeseen problem. I was counting on the gadgeteer making Tripleshot Crossbows for herself and the bard. Unfortunately, I was not expecting this: so far I have found only ONE Light Crossbow in the whole game (dropped by a monster IIRC)! No storekeeper seems to be stocking it. So far my team has been to Arnika, the Swamp, the Umpani base camp, Mt Gigas (upper and lower), Mt Gigas Sea Caves, SE Wilderness, N Wilderness, the Mines, Lower & Upper Marten's Bluff, plus of course the monastery & the road. Did I miss anything? Oh, Trynton + the trees of course. In any case, I desperately need more Light Crossbows. Why isn't *anybody* selling them? ![]() |

Anna, Kunar and Sadok sell them. And there's one hidden in the lower monastery (king crab) so you'll prolly have that one. Oh, and triple crossbows suck stamina big time.

yah, ferro, i much prefer Strong Bow or Arbalest. Not just for the stamina--you can't carry enough bolts. Funny thing, most of my last bunch of games i used Phasers or nothing for Ranged. Just got sick of ammo.

Scatter or someone else in the know,
Can you confirm that buying up a bunch of junk from a merchant's inventory (ie. crappy bolts, arrows, and sling stones) will force them to resupply at a higher rate? I've heard theories on this, but you know how it goes about some people's theories.

Ok, thanks. I'll just keep frequenting those stores until I have enough Light Crossbows. Yeah, I know about the Stamina drain, in my previous (Normal, completed) game my Ranger had a Tripleshot. Of course, the Ranger was doing missile criticals, so Tripleshot = more shots = more chances of critical hits worked for him but my current characters might find the bows you mentioned more useful. I'll just have to find them first.
EDIT: Oh, btw, the stamina drain is a non-issue. My two bishops are responsible for keeping the the party (especially the Bard & the Gadgeteer) in good stamina (with Stamina and Rest All spells), and they are their doing their job excellently. Speaking of interesting items, my faerie ninja just got the item I created him for. I have mixed feelings about it (spoiler).... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . At first, I was impressed by the damage potential and the extra effects. However, it seems that (on Expert at least) the "100% poison" ability is an exaggeration. No, I'm not talking about the undead and such, but perfectly ordinary opponents (like brigands, rapax etc.). They only seem to get poisoned 1/3 of time when the ninja hits or so. And then, the thing is cursed, meaning that my ninja cannot easily switch to a missile weapon when not in melee range. Methinks I liked the *Light* *Sword* (previous game, again) better. It performed excellently against any creature (also the undead) and magnificiently against the Dark Savant's androids. [ 04-01-2004, 06:27 AM: Message edited by: seclists ] |

You should be aware of this kinda bug in the game: when a merchant has a LOT of items for sale, the quantity of items may go beyond a certain limit where the last items in the list become invisible. They're still there, but you don't see them. Maybe this is what you're experiencing. To solve the problem, buy all of the cheaper items, like stone bullets and plain arrows and quarrels, and just drop them around. If you're far enough in the game, money won't be a problem, and if you're not, the merchants inventories shouldn't be full anyway. You'll see a whole bunch of hidden items reappearing in the merchant's list.
