I just found the Staff of Doom for the first time and gave it to my 40 HP Faerie Bishop w/o noticing the drain factor. He's level 11 and can not uncurse himself to remove it. Anyone know what needs to be done? He'll start dying quickly in the Mountain Wilderness if he keeps the drain on, and so far I haven't found any regenerating items to counterbalance it. Also, I have no previous saves before I equiped it.

er, you got that far without finding, stealing, or buying at least an Amulet of Healing??? Well, get thee to Crock asap, or the Marten's Bluff part where the lever to the Idol door is, there's one there, hidden, just up the stairs from the Northern Sector of Lower MB. Or kill/PP Myles or Anna. Meanwhile keep casting Heal or gulping down some potions...
Remove Curse off a scroll might get rid of it, depending on your Artifacts skill, but at L11 even if you have a Mage/Priest/Bishop you're stuck for the spell/skill.

IIRC, the pool in Braffits chamber can remove all curses, too.

Uhh...To Crock's it is then...I guess I never had a need for regeneration before and so I never looked for anything like that. Everyone is loaded up with Ahnk's of whatever, rings of etc. and other goodies. Thanks!

The bishop's remove curse ability is somewhat limited, and I think based somewhat on class level. Some players have better luck with casting a high power level Remove Curse spell instead. If you decide to stop using the staff for any reason, try the spell.

If you have a lord then the lords regen counteracts the drain of the staff.

Latter on you calso can ge the ring of regeneration or robes of rejuvination or infinity helm.

the last two i believe ferro sells (memory hazy)

That's right. Just bought them from him.

Unfortunately the problem solved itself when my Bishop was killed by a mob of scorchers. Without being able to rest to rejunenate spell points, I had a very rough time getting out alive.
