Another reasonably trivial question, sorry
![]() Thanks Also on an unrelated note, I've encountered about 3 groups of mares now, two groups of dire mares and one of dread mares. I don't recall this happening at all in my last game, but in all three encounters at least 3/4 of the mares have retreated and I've only ended up killed 1 or 2 of them (out of 6 or 7) because the others have bolted. Is that normal? The first time we ran into them I panicked because they at level 16 or so would have creamed us at level 13 or so, but most of them fled the scene.

I've never lost anything that I've left on the ground. I remember some discussion about slowing the game if there were too many objects, but it's never been a problem for me.
As to your other question. Horses run: it's what they do. Perfectly normal, and perfectly annoying.

You can put something on the floor, where many thieves normally congregate, walk about, do whatever, come back a few years later and they'll still be there in perfect condition. So no, things dropped on the floor last forever. As for items the game doesn't want you to drop, you can store them in chests. Click the item you want to drop, so that it becomes attached to the cursor, right click out of the inventory menu, and click on the part of a chest that opens. It will store it in the chest for you then.
EDIT: It appears Solomon beat me to it [ 02-17-2004, 05:03 PM: Message edited by: Ben Lauritson ]

Yeah, any chest in the game (so far as I know) is a safe spot for stashing those things - like the cosmic doodads - you can't just toss away. Handy for stuffing all those keys you end up with but don't need anymore, too.
As for the horsies, they always run. That you managed even a couple is lucky. Most players just take off when the mares appear; it's usually the safer course unless you have very good protection. |

LOL yeah we were definitely planning to run, except that they were on the road to the mine tunnels and it was the only way to get there!
![]() And thanks everyone for the other info

Don't put stuff in the chests at the Away Camp.
You can drop things in places from which you cannot retrieve them (eg Arnika entrance fountain) |
