Well. After 11 months i've decided to start playing bg2 again.
last time i played i got stuck at the underworld(?) (after playing with the fishes in some strange world) I could not manage to defeat a group of mage's and human warriors. I did not posess the strenght /and/or i did not have enought powerfull weapons.. so before i start playing from the beginning with a "ranger-natural-enemy=dragon-elf-archer"i would be gratefull for some tips and hints on how to level faster and where to get some awsome bows and arrows and armour. I don't want to get stuck again cuz then i'll probably loose my interest in bg and never play it again...

The Drow? pah. pansies the lot of them. just make sure that you have sufficient magic resistance and have yout spellslingers pelt them with bullets instead, since they have alot of resistance as well.
Dont worry about equipment though, the first time you kill a bunch of Drow youll find _awesome_ Drow Armour, best in the game, decays when you leave the underdark thouhg. also they have excellent swords and other weapons. to level faster - do more quets, have fewer in you rparty (since XP is divided), kill things. Stats for a ranger - go for str, con and dex. cha can be useful, but you cna get a ring of human influence which makes it redundant. wis and int are useless for this class.

Beware what you say about the Drow, abbil. They may have spies about.

For making a archer, I personally think the most important stats are in order from most important to least...
Dex For both the bonuses to hit with missile weapons and the AC bonus. Con Obviously for more hit points. ![]() Wis Having a high wisdom gives you a better magical defense adjustment. A 18 in wisdom gives a +4 bonus to your rolls to save against magic... Don't be Minsc, have high wis ![]() Str I place str lower on the list than maybe some people would, but when it comes down to it, it won't be too frequently that you will have to rely on melee weapons... Especially if you have a party to keep the opponents back from you. Also, there are several strenght enhancing belts, and spells avaiable in the game. Int & Cha Neither of these really play a roll for archers, but they are nice to not have penalties in, so if possible keep them at 8 and above... Spoilers . . . . . . . . . You can find a nice longbow in the central area of the upper level of Nalia's keep. The treasures are guarded by several golems, and they are rather tough early on, but you can grab the loot without having to fight the golems if you have a cleric cast sanctuary. Then he/she can just waltz in and take the treasures. There is a good Shortbow available in the Copper Cornet, if you go into the back and free the slaves, the key to the slave's cell is held by the beastmaster who also has the tugian shortbow, which lets you make an extra shot per round... Yum. Most of the good crossbows seem to be on merchants... But you can at least get the heavy crossbow of accuracy off of one of Gaal's guards when you complete the cult of the eyeless quest... (go back and they jump you for destroying their god). If you have ToB, you can save up and go over to watcher's keep... The merchant on the roof will sell you a very nice no-ammo-needed crossbow. Oh, last thing I can think of to say is, Don't miss out on crossbows... There is some quite nice ammo you can find for them, especially the Kuo Tao bolts you find in the underdark... Extra yummy. |

Bah drow-shmrow..
Spoiler maybe . . . . . . . . . . . . . Once I was all done with the dragon eggs, i.e. I had them on me, I took my party to the city entrance. After all, the imp said that the illusion will wear off soon and then it will be a major rumble. Well, so I wanted a part of it. But since that game was my "do all the quests there are, get all the XP there is" game, my main char was lvl 28 or 29 berserker. I play on the standard AD&D difficulty, I don't want to play this game that much that I would bother with messing on the Insane difficulty and bother with the planning of the hits, positions, spells and protections.. So my berserker moved a bit ahead and sure enough, the vendors attacked. They died before they even finished their swing. To make a short story even shorter, my berserker alone beated the whole town up. So yes, 'em drows are just blue pansies ![]()

Oh thanx. Is it impossible to kill the silver dragon in the beginning?
I hate her. she got mad at me because i stole the light-diamond from the dwarf instead of fighting that though deamon.. If i level enough before, and indeed my natural enemy is dragon, so if i get my party to storm the dragon while im hitting her with my arrows? btw, since im new to this bow&arrow thing, what is magical arrows and how impostant is it to have great arrows? is it not expensive to bye arrows all the time?
