If I use a game editor to introduce the engineering items that weren't included in the game, will they work ok or are there bugs associated with them?

Also, I can still use my engineering skill to combine items even after changing classes to something else can't I? I'm pretty sure that's the case. My gadgeteer has reached 91 in engineering so I'm going to change them to an alchemist. He is a bit behind in locks and traps but my bishop can prop him up with spells.

You must currently be a gadgeteer to merge gadgets. You may use gadgets that you qualify for (have the gad level and eng skill) as any other class, but not make them. You can build up your L&T skill by inspecting the same trap over and over again (keep clicking the magnifier but don't open the chest).
I don't know about editors, i guess if the item is available in the editor you should be able to use it...there are items which don't esist in W-8 that you can import from W-7, so if W-8 software supports the existence of whatever it is, it should work normally.

Odd, I found some more gadget components and you appear to be wrong. I was able to assemble the port-o-potty and strobe light for example. However it seems I was premature in changing classes. The strobe light requires another level of gadgeteer before I can use it and it seems that only gadgeteers can use the port-o-potty.
