NOTE: Beregost (where I live) is in Europe, too. I've just had a really nasty bout of summer flu, so I wasn't around. I've just read through all of your BG II posts and I feel a bit like Susret - my brain hurts!
I can't possibly answer all your questions just here and now, so you'll have to have patience. The one thing I remember was that you asked me about a game server, and yes, the machine is mine....
Lately, I have taken up the male chauvinist habit of playing with a party full of girls (except for my own char, that is). I have with me (elf, thief) Bärle (char from a friend of mine)(elf, thief), Imoen (looks like an elf now), Dynaheir, Jaheira, and Branwen. EVERYONE is chaotic good, no-one is nagging and we don't kill Drizzt.

Interesting fact:
It was Bärle who got me started hex editing BG when the BG keyboard-screw-up didn't let her type her name in properly...

You are so sensible with Drizzt, but I think his stuff is worthy and you can always invent some kind of excuse...e.g. my bad guy always help people with familiar problems (the man i the ankheg zone, the child in BG...)Maybe he would have preferred a normal family, and a normal father not Bhaal.
You have Jaheira and Branwen in the same party ? I don´t like using 2 priests, my usual party consists of 3 warriors (or paladin or ranger), 1 wizard, 1 cleric and 1 thief.
About hex-editing, do you know how to un-dire charm some of my party ? Sirines dire charmed a pair of them and I used Algernon´s cloak on them. Now, every 24 hours (more or less) they become enemies. This sucks !!! [Azreall, I dunno where have you replied this topic].

By the way, some real BG question: I´ve read that boots of speed don´t work with spider´s bane (or ring of free action), but my character runs anyway, wielding spider´s bane. WHY ?

About charmed NPC: thanx, clever northern boy, I read the message, almost before they wrote it , but I haven´t any save games before this problem. And since I wrote it I have played so much (I´m now in BG city), charming them every nanosecond. That´s no problem cause I´ve read that Algernon´s cloak has 65000!!!! charges, but it´s a little *@$&!!! You understand... I´ve tried dispelling magic and removing curse, but no way.

PS: Azreall, you haven´t still told me where did you hear "cucho".

Indeed, Lighting strike is nice, but only in the middle of the game, cause later you'll kill your enemies even before Faheira has Charged (=casted) the spell.

Alrighty, The GVB is the Global Variable Bug, wich comes with BG and BG:TotSC. It causes NPC's and Items do be respawned, disapear and quest to fail : It tottaly srews you BG.
I think this may have something to do with it. I'm afraid that you'll have to replay the whole game

You can wear the boots of speed AND wield spiders bane (ps. why arent you wielding the worlds edge?) because S.B. protects you, but the ring of free action enchants you with the spell freedom, wich doest allow things like haste or oil of speed. cappiche ?

Adhrael: to get rid of the dire charm, cast dispel magic. (Sil once cast dire charm on Branwen, so Branwen received a counter-charm from Algernon's cloak and then she cast dispel magic on herself and was fine.)
With my present party not having a lot of hit points, and me limiting the party to studded leather armour, a druid and a priest are no luxury at all. (also, Jaheira will soon have lightning strike)

1, I'm ever so sorry (really)(honestly)(wide grin) of making fun of yer names in the topic. I just assumed since you had made it such an issue in the 'monster thread' that I'd just go on and play along.
2, About the Global Variable Bug: I've noticed it mostly strikes on computers with low memory, like 64MB RAM or less.

Sorry to hear the mighty M was off the air. Conspicuously absent. No doubt Mr Bond was most upset with no-one to give instructions. John Travolta? Shudder at Grease, shudder more at Scientology but Get Shorty wasn't too bad. I wouldn't worry too much about the claw - it'd be the horn I'd want to look after (if she offered). You have a bit of reading to do...

The party you're with makes sense, especially looking at the "guide" at Black Isle's IWD page that went up recently, but I do like having someone sing while the battle goes on. Lore comes in handy later. Perhaps we should ask to be able to play CD's/MP3's etc as custom bardsongs ... the possibilities would be endless.

Another fun thing - make and swap soundsets. Interesting to get a Monty Python, Pink Panther or Goon set? Fun once, maybe for some people it's be fun always.
