Conspiracy Theory (yes, yet again, sorry)

I just had to post this. I have a party consisting of a Lizard Fighter, 2 Rangers (Mook & Elf), Hobbit Gadgeteer, Elf Bishop and a Gnome Alchemist. A sort of Ranged Party with magical backup.

What have I got in monster drops? Yup, you've guessed it, 2 Mercurio Blades, Prospero's Cloak and Ariel Slippers (although I sold this last item some time ago).

This is happening too often too make it coincidental. Mind you, if I have a Bard you can guess what doesn't get dropped (OK, maybe the Ariel Slippers sometimes).

At the moment I haven't got anyone who could use Bloodlust (which is gathering dust in a chest in Arnika) without losing ranged abilities so am seriously considering changing my Elf Ranger to a Bard, who could then use either Mercurio's Blade or Bloodlust. If she used the Blade, she could use a Triple Xbow to continue my ranged theme.

My party is between levels 9-11 so the Bard could catch up I suppose. Also I know I can get Caliban's Curaiss and Oberon's Greaves at certain shops. Snag is I've been selling the Bard's instruments.....

Sorry for the rant but just had to get it off my chest.

Go for it, get a bard (elf?). I've noticed similar things. If you have a Gadgeteer, Crock and Anna don't have the extra items they need. If you don't have a Gad, voila! they sell them. Maybe this is a weird inducement to change classes. I would be curious what others have to say about this.

Your party has to be at a certain level (IIRC level 11) for crock to sale the gadgeteer items.

definatly go with a bard. at this point in the game you may not have very good instruments, but wait until you get the cool ones like stirngs of seduction in bayjin (TURNCOAT POWER LEVEL 7!!!!!!!!!). plus there is madras to do your gadjeteer work. also, use the mook as your bard. i find they are the best in that profession.

my wife and i both swear by the bard, particularly for the fast camping, but also since taking on some of EEW's suggestions regarding development using the mook race.

back to the conspiracy theory point, i couldnt agree more.

it's not just monster drops either, but also chest drops. after more than a dozen runs with parties with samurais, we only just saw the muramasa blade with, you guessed it, a party without a samurai. same with excalibur - first parties to see it had no fighter or valk (we dont run lords).

it goes further at traders, too. i find if i'm running a party with xbows, ferro will go days and days without getting lightning bolts, but if i'm throwing, then there's 400+ lbolts but no medusa stones, but if i'm using strong bows and eagle eyes, then there's no mystic arrows... and dont even get me started about spellbooks

i keep telling my wife it's just bad luck, but she insists it's coded in. and then we both ran faerie ninja parties for the first time last week, and in spite of getting coc every time up til now, i had to redo the fight for the first time!

i'm starting to be convinced...!
