I don't use RPC's (sorry don't know what the "R" in there means)anymore. I hate when they take off on me. Does anyone know which RPC's will stick around anywhere? RFS-81 maybe?

RFS goes everywhere with you except the Rapax Away Camp. No other NPC is that accomodating; they all have two or more areas they won't enter.
Once I knew my way around the game, I only took NPC's in for quest completion, and didn't bother with having them as extra party members. |

RFS-81 (an android you find later) is great. He will stick around and follow you almost anywhere. And he gets damned powerful. I would say keep him if you find out how to do it. Our party won't because we already have a monk. The "R" stands for role, as in role playing character (RPC), which is your party. An NPC is a non-role playing character, which means they can join you but are not really part of your group for the long run. Maybe someone else can define this better.

I think the designers meant "R" to mean "Recruitable". In standard RPG terminology, there is PC for player character, meaning one's alter ego in the game, and NPC, for non-player character, everyone else in the world who is not a member of the party.
I don't consider "RPC" a good term and never use it myself. |

I thought the R stands for Replayable. which mean you can play the character. PC is Playing Character. Only in Wizardry 8 have I saw thie RPC thing.

Or one could just read the manual
![]() Top of page 55: "These Non-Player Characters (or NPCs for short)...." Bottom of page 60: "When NPCs join your party, they become RPCs (Recruitable Player Characters).... Also, you can take any RPC anywhere, if you really want to. But you'll have to listen to their whining the entire time you're in an area they don't like. Some of the complaining (Saxx, RFS-81) is easier to tune out than others (Vi). |

I stand corrected on RPC. And this is the first time I have run into the term, now that I think about it. I mixed it up with RPG I guess.
I don't know for sure where you can't take Drazic and Rodan but I took them to many places. IIRC, they complain only once when you enter a new area and do not lose stats. [ 07-03-2003, 09:22 AM: Message edited by: Ziggurat ]

Rodan and Drazic will go anywhere on Dominus. Though they complain almost anywhere you take them, they will not take a stats penalty.

Depending on when you go and rescue Rodan and Drazic, are they really that worth keeping with you and building up?
my favorite is the android to keep as an RPC, building him up is so worth it. I did that on my first game through. Walked up to the souleater, knocked his arse out first strike, and just pummled him to nothing. His knock out value is well, invaluable. and he gets like 4 turns and 3X per turn...heavy hitter! I love him. Just IMHO I picked up Rodan and Drazic quite near the "end" and didn't feel that building them up to a decent level was worth it. *shrugs* again, IMHO just my 2 cents.
