Welcome to IronWorks Forum Phoonzang
The best way to get xp is to go to Arnika and kill all the Dark Savant troopers they give you tons of xp at the beginning of the game! ![]() |

Aye - just be weary of Arnika Road... man is that place a bad place to be for newly created characters!

Funny thing about Arnika Road, if you leave the Monastery at L5 (i save XP's and level up upon crossing the zone) the mobs are usually evenly matched. But then, until 11 or so, they're VERY overmatched. Once you've been to Arnika and at least read a few Spellbooks, you can usually handle the overmatch, so going back for that last room is never as hard as the first time you hit the intersection. In Arnika it is also possible to practise some of your magic Schools and Realms(1), and Music(2), as high as you want, even to 100 in very few 'game' days. Or build your gold to a mil (and as a side effect, your Alchemy to 100)(3) in a couple of weeks.
S P O I L E R S P A C E 1) (a)Alchemy/Wizardry and Earth by casting Knock-Knock repeatedly at the Vault Door (save camping time by using a Mana Stone, which you can get in the Iron Key chest in the Monastery) (b)Divinity/Psionics and Mental by casting Charm repeatedly at any friendly NPC, pref. a merchant who'll buy and sell you back your Mana Stone to recharge it. (c)Psionics and Mental by casting Mindread repeatedly at any friendly NPC. 2) Music by using the Viola d'Amore on any friendly NPC. Other magic skill builders include these fast-fading spells, they're not available in Arnika as Books, but you can get them relatively soon in the game if you don't want to take them as picks (the Buffers are more important, anyway, and they help practise, too. They just take longer to fade, so you get Skill Increases less often): Alchemy/Psionics and Earth by casting Chameleon whenever it fades (fast) Psionics and Fire by casting Hypnotic Lure near NPC's when not in Combat 3)Anyone with Alchemy 15 or more can start mixing potions for profit--and Alchemy points. You just have to camp a day for Braffit to restock, and he'll get 5, 10, or 15 each of Mod and Lt Heal, so if you save just before kissing him, you can reload if he only got 5. So mix Lt and Mod Heal to make Hv Heal. You have to identify it to sell it for a profit (?-things are heavily discounted) so someone has to have (IIRC) 36 in Artifacts, or the Identify spell. When you get to 30 (if you're Caster level 5, which might be Hybrid level 9), you can go Knock-Knocking to get to 50 faster than by mixing, then you can mix Hv Heal with Cure Disease to make Renewal for the Big Bux. You can also mix Boom and Stink bombs to make Acid bombs at Alc 30; Hv Heal and CLC for Cure Disease at 40; Flash and Sneeze powders at 50 for Pandemonium powder, there's a big profit there, but nobody ever sells many of these. At 95 you can mix Fire and Ice bombs for Canned Elemental. Mixing ability is independent of level. |
