I am doing things the same order with this game as I did my other two, but when I went to talk to the Umpani, Balbrack was hostile. I don't remember if I went to He'li or not, but she didn't prompt me to buy her out. Is there any way to fix this without reloading from way back before I went to the bluff? I've done a lot of running around and I don't really want to have to do it again. None of the other umpani are hostile, but I can't get started on those quests without balbrak.

Make the T'rang Arm your cursor, and touch him with it. Unless he's so hostile that he initiates combat, the next quest item will make him friendly if you touch him with it instead of the lips. This is true of any NPC's whose quests involve items, you just have to know what the next item is.

He's initiating combat at sight. And I haven't even been able to talk to him the first time to go through the obstacle course.

I love it when you can answer your own questions. It wasn't Balbrak that was mad at me-it was stupid little Sparkle. Luckily, she followed me. I had to take her out behind quarters and assassinate her where no other umpani could see me. This immediately made the common umpani neutral to me, and the lieutenant in the tower hostile cuz he saw me. But then I was able to go talk to Balbrak and enlist and they all became friendly toward me again.

Moral of the story-don't go kill all the Trynnie until you're done with the umpani.

You killed all the Trynnie's. Well, hate em too, specially since they forced me off one of the bough's in the middle of a hard fight where i was about to win.
