This is a must-have for anyone who's previously downloaded the Wiz8SpellAbility spreadsheet, as it now has support for profession-changed characters. Even if you only have single profession characters, there have been a couple of other very useful improvements since the last release (v1.05) which will make life easier.
And for those you that are asking, "What the heck is the Wiz8SpellAbility spreadsheet?" It's a spreadsheet that allows you to enter in your spellcasters current stats, and it will tell you what spells the character can learn, or for spells that they are not yet able to learn, it will tell you how many points you need, or why your character can't learn the spell. :1dice: Visit http://wiz8.web1000.com/ for all the details. Thanks Wolfie! This is a wonderful reference, especially for hybrid casters! Now I can finally figure out why the hell my Samurai has no spell picks at all despite his high Wizardry skill! *grumbles*
Now I just gotta find a way to boost his element skills.. Kudos to your hard work! |

It's for people like Charmy here, that I like to keep informed, Megabot. I've spent nearly 75 hours all up working on this spreadsheet, the more people who use it and find it useful to them, then the better my time has been invested. There are no financial rewards for me, my only reward is the (too) few 'thank you' e-mails and messages.
So by all means, you do not have to use it, no-one is forcing you, indeed go right ahead and ignore these postings altogether. Wolfie

It has come to my attention that some users have not been able to access my web site at http://wiz8.web1000.com/ but rather, get re-directed to the web service provider's home page. I have since been informed by Web1000.com, that they have a policy about denying access to so called "non-english" speaking countries. Personally I find this abhorrent as I believe the Internet and it's content should be available to everyone, these type of policies are a hair-width away from censorship of the Internet. Such things would be expensive, time-consuming and ultimately impractical, as I'm about to demonstrate. A user who was affected by this blocking policy provided me with the following link which enables those who were unable to access the site, to view it's content as usual:
http://www.metaspinner.net/cgi-bin/n...8.web1000.com/ So if you have tried visiting my web site and been getting Web1000.com's page, try using above link to download the Wiz8SpellAbility spreadsheet and view the various other Wizardry 8 related content available. Regards, - Wolfie PS: Work on a non-Excel version of the spreadsheet is nearing completion, just going through last phase of testing. It won't be as "pretty", but works the same way and gives the same results. [ 04-22-2002, 10:15 PM: Message edited by: Wolfie ] |

Wolfie,
Your provider may have experienced warez and other heavy download from free accounts. I was myself partially shunned from my free hoster because I lived in Japan. Reason: many warez from asia where put on that server. Maybe they have problems. I'll try out the download right now to see! I have no problem from Japan! Yeah possibly, althrough it seems rather extreme to block off a whole country just because of a few warez pirates. Also, they made the point about it being "non-english" countries they were blocking specifically, which sounds more discriminatory than it does as a bandwidth protecting policy.
Anyway, thankfully with this web proxy service, I don't have to move service providers again or maintain dual sites.

A version of the Wiz8SpellAbility spreadsheet has been developed, which removes all the Excel-specific features whilst keeping all the functionality of the original. Even if you don't have a spreadsheet package, there are instructions on where you can download a FREE application. All the details can be found at http://wiz8.web1000.com/index.html#NonExcel
