Once it gets to 15, you can gain decent skill and money by mixing potions. It helps to split ingredients into single jars, you get more skill improvement that way.

What I do is to split my alchemist's inventory into single jars of one ingredient (e.g. medium heal potion) and then to merge a stack of the other (e.g. light heal potion). The stack will use only the one on the merge and your cursor will keep the stack in tow. Click on the merge item button again, and then on the next single bottle in your inventory.

if you go back after some time (or rest a while) most shopkeepers resupply. I got a bunch of those Amulets of Healing from Crock, as well as enough spellbooks from everybody. Killing T'rang and Rapax casters can also yield spellbooks.

gaunty, merchants "re-stock" every 24 game-hours, so either camp 3 times (3x 8 hours), or just come back after 24 hours.

** Spoiler Warning **

Here's a link to a list (compiled by Mage_77) of what spellbooks each merchant can sell (they won't have all in the list at any one time, just a random selection of those listed). The list also has where you can find spellbooks lying around Dominus.

Enjoy!
