Complain to Amazon. They'll give you free $hit, complaining to us will give you only free snide comments ;o)

amazon.com, while a decent site with lots of things there to buy, is NOT a gamer's site. sure they have games for sale, but if you're a gamer, you want the game and you want it now.

amazon has a turnaround time of approximately 2 weeks before they ever begin processing an order. they also toss in an extra week if your billing and shipping are different addies. i order stuff from them only if i can't get it anywhere else.

i will tell you where you need to go for the BEST shipping rates, regular promotions and fab 48 Hour Madness Program [lovingly referred to as The Drunken Webmaster Specials]. you get GREAT games for CHEAP ~~ i got Yuri's Revenge for $4.90 a couple of weeks ago and will get Serious Sam: Second Encounter in a day or two for $9.90!

i've been ordering from them for 3 years now. if you order before 5pm PST (8 pm EST) you will get it the NEXT day, except weekends, of course.

Curious? Got your attention? good!!

Compuexpert

have fun!!

I still tend to have much better feelings about buying stuff when I can hold it in my hands. That doesn't include nostagia things I once did hold and want to own again, and my addiction to eBay can be fairly pervasive/invasive . .

But I'll probably look in on your favorite online game store.

Meanwhile, I'm looking for a thread here in which Mana Stones came up and you had a comment that I wanted to pursue, but I've got both desktop PC's opened up, taken apart, and didn't immediately see how to "recover" an Ironworks password. So that's what the "private" message at Greatest RPG was in reference to. Now, if I can just find that other thread again . . (hard to do without a search function).

heya! if you still want that conversation about mana stones, it's right here!

ugh! taking pc's apart. i had my little baby blow up on me recently. it sounded like a HUGE explosion and melted down various parts of my pc innards: grafix board, chip, mobo got twisted... ick!

i'm sorry. i think i missed your message at RPG forum. i have been transferring stuff from one laptop to another and with everything else, i was out of commission for a very long span. hopefully that's the link you were looking for!

In almost 20 years of having computers in my home, plus another 10-plus of using them at work before that, no failure of mine has ever made any noise, although I've seen smoke & fire on occasion!

These are apart, originally, because I'm getting into digital graphics and photography. I added a CD-RW to the backup (older one, Pentium II, 400 MHz) PC, and a PCMCIA reader device to the newer, Athlon 1.3 GHz PC. While I was at it, I planned to add RAM to the older one and get rid of WinME.

But there have been these constant complications! So I have dragged a PC that I intended to give to one of the grandkids, and had been in another room, back in here with all the other electronics - plus plugging in the laptop in its docking cradle. It's as big or bigger of a mess now as before Christmas, when the 1.3 came home new, and I cleaned the place (well, this room - I am a single guy, and not much of a housekeeper!) pretty well for the first time in a couple of years.

Thanks for answering!

The Real One, Kiwi

P.S. If any messagers here have seen a newby-type critter posting on some of the gaming forums (like Greatest RPG) using my handle, I've gone by this NZ bird's name for 30 some-odd years now. I used it on the CB radio in the late 1960's through the end of that craze in the mid-1970's. When various names began to be used on the earliest of the nets I had access to at college (where I was teaching part time), I was using Kiwi online. That was about 1989, I think, but I had used my name before that on FidoNet and other similar store & forward messaging nets that grew up with the BBS technologies. Whoever this youngster is, I was only off the gaming forums (not enough of my kind of CRPG's) for a couple of years, so he/she is still a newby.7
