Why does he hate Viconia so much? Shouldn't a Paladin of the Faith, who is good and virtuous, try to believe in the possibility of someone being good???
Anytime I party with Keldorn and Viconia, very few words are exchanged between them, and eventually (within a few days or so) Keldorn basically ambushes Viconia without so much as a by-your-leave. If he's truly a racist against the Drow, what would he do if confronted with Drizzt? And if he justifies that as Drizzt has proven his goodwill, shouldn't he give Viconia a chance as well? just curious about this issue and how its handled in game...

Keldorn doesn't like Viconia because she is an EVIL drow...not just because she is a drow.
Drizzt, OTOH, is Neutral Good (I think).

Dude, Drow are Evil. with a capital "E." This isn't some issue of being misunderstood... there are very good reasons why killing drow on sight is considered to be a Good Thing(tm) by most of the surface population of the forgotten realms. Toril is a fantasy world where Good and Evil aren't just philosophical, they're real -- and real steals in through the windows at night to steal your babies and rip off your skin. Drizzt is, essentially, the single drow to have escaped an evil existence in recorded mythic memory. Viconia may be above ground, but that doesn't make her good or simply misunderstood.
Viconia is a bad girl. She's not nice. She talks to Shar in her dreams. Shar LIKES HER, and helps her do yucky things like Unholy Blight. Maybe you can eventually pull her away from that. Maybe not. Who knows? But she's a priestess in good standing of a Dark Goddess (tm). What paladin in his right mind WOULDN'T be a short step away from offing her? What reason does Keldorn have to believe, under any circumstances, that by accompanying her he is abetting a force which he has sworn his very existence to opposing? Keldorn doesn't care about party balance. Keldorn doesn't care about what happens in SoA or ToB four chapters down the road. Keldorn cares about finding Evil where it lurks, and then expunging it with a Holy Flamethrower of Bob (tm) before it's able to hurt any more innocents than it already has or eventually will. That's who he is, and what he does, period. So naturally, it's not a good idea to try to have both of them in your party. If you're really playing your character well, it's very unlikely that you'd WANT both of them in your party.

A true paladin is an eternal optimist. Combatting dragons, demons and hellspawn, paladins do not flinch at the sight of evil.
The thing that distinguishes a paladin from a run of the mill warrior (in role-playing terms) is his commitment to the fight against evil in all its forms and the code of Chivalry. A true paladin does not start fights, but he does end them. The animosity Keldorn feels for Viconia is unwarranted, as some of you have hinted at, Viconia may not always be evil, given the chance. And that's why paladins are interesting characters, they crusade for good, but do not stoop to evil methods to accomplish their goals. A paladin does not believe the end justifies the means, he believes that the means to an end can be as or more important than the end itself. The point? Keldorn does not give Viconia a chance. This runs counter to a paladin's code of honor and the tenets of paladinhood. I may have read too much into this, but wouldn't an experienced adventurer, not an average peasant, know that allies and friends can be found in the most unlikely places, and to dismiss or kill out of hand gets you no where? P.S. In both PnP AD&D and the BG series, it is possible to change your alignment. Your actions determine who you are, not a belief in a God. Using the "alignment determines everything" argument is fallacious and ignorant.

As I have said elsewhere, Keldorn is too judgmental about Viconia. She can be turned to the good in TOB, and, as a Paladin who is married to a Paladin, both of whom are in our right minds, we always take Viconia and leave Keldorn in the sewers. It is our duty to defend the defenceless, protect the innocent, and leave the world a better place than when we found it. Leaving poor Viconia in the graveyard or, worse, letting them kill her, is contrary to our oath.If you follow her story line, you find that she left the underdark because she couldn't stomach Lioth. Evil has become a doubtful thing to her, and we must teach her to abandon it.

actually there are NUMEROUS good drow above ground. one of the seven sisters of the chosen of Mystra is a drow priestess. (nobody knows that she is drow except the other sisters of course) anyone remember Gromph Baenrae? he has a daughter, a fighter/mage, and she is good too. there are LOTS of them. look in the heros/villains lorebooks if you have any questions about the truth of my statements.
