My Wizardry 8 used to work perfectly fine on my system.. no problems whatsoever. When I upgraded to Windows XP, however, (from Windows 98) at first it would not work at all (gave me an error message that I can't remember now), so I reinstalled the game.. and it now only runs in extreme slow motion.. mouse cursor and keyboard take forever, and the game itself won't even load. I didn't change anything on my computer other than installing XP and Norton Systemworks 2002. I have tried re-installing, updating drivers, fiddling with resolutions.. nothing works. I have a Pentium III 450 mHZ, 40 gigs of HD, 256 megs RAM. Could my graphics card be too old? (Intel 740) But in that case, why did it work fine with Windows 98?
I hope somebody can help me get my game back! |

I posted on this EXACT problem last week when I upgraded winME to Win2K (XP is built on the NT engine, just like 2k). Everything looked like it had a strobe light on... it was moving so jittery (except like when you were on the options menu, it'd look fine).
What I did: upped my Ram from 128MB to 224MB (had some lying around work). re-ran the Wiz8 setup to use DirectX7 for the video instead of OpenGL, then set it to a resolution higher than 640X480 (it'll be blurry if you don't). I could still use some more ram, but it brought it back to where I was before. if you have more issues, email me directly and I'll walk you through it when I'm at home so I'll have it in front of me GenXCub@aol.com

its prolly video drivers
or u might also need new motherboard drivers i know my motherboard used a different set of all its drivers when i changed from wincrapOS 98 to winrealOS 2000 Look for windows XP drivers for your motherboard and video card and if u cant get them yet settle for windows 2000 drivers they should work a lot better than win98 drivers

I've heard both of you mention that you upgraded to xp. Did you do a fresh install or did you just upgrade. If you just did the upgrade then that could be your problem right there. Whenever installing a new os always start from scratch and do it on a formatted hd. You will run into alot fewer problems that way.
