Hi@All

the one thread concernig the placement of elementals reminds me of a question I had.

How is it determined what kind of elemental is summoned, or is it always a fire elemental.

I tried them out when, i entered the Rapax Hideout (where round about 40Rapax start attacking you with fireballs and other stuff.

But I think, that fire elementals a relative worthless against Rapax because of the high fire resistance of the rapax.

So I wandered, what has to be done to get a water or wind or ... Element??

I´ve been having the same question. Since some creatures have certain elemental resistances it would be good to be able to choose or at least tweak it a little.

I haven't seen anything about this, but I always assumed that the elemental summoned relied in some way on the elements present in the area where you do the summoning. Hence, in the Rapax Rift, where there's plenty of fire, you have a good chance of getting a fire elemental and a small chance of getting a water elemental.

I was in trynton when I first got this spell. I cast it 3 times in the same place. I got fire/air/water. I think its just random.

Well, three times is a pretty small sample. I'll have to pay attention for a while and see what goes on.

The reason I don't think it's random is I don't recall ever getting a fire elemental when I was in the underwater sections. Water, earth and air, yes, but not fire (I don't think any fire-based magic works there -- makes sense, right?). It follows that other areas might have a similar (if not so drastic) effect on the outcome of your spell.

I'm in the midst of a replay -- I'll try to notice this time.

The elemental is quasi-random. In the swamp you'll get plenty of water and air elementals. Sometimes a fire elemental. In other areas, it skews differently. I don't use the spell a lot, so I can't say that what I saw was representative. But it gives the appearence.

You may notice that no fire spells work, including summoning a fire elemental, when underwater. I agree that the place you are in can determine which elementals get invoked. In some places it doesn't matter, you get them all randomly. They are useless in Rapax areas except as a distraction to the enemy.
