I have unzipped the patch to the Wizardry8 directory, but nothing happens...there doesn't seem to be and exe file to start the patch. Is anyone else having this problem? I am at Ascension Peak and would like to finish the game...

There is no executable "patcher" file.

The files are unzipped over the files in the Wizardry root folder - replacing them. You should have seen a couple of messages of the type: Do you want to copy over the files currently...

Thanks Xignal, but it's not working. I've unzipped the files into
sirtech/Wizardry8...is that right? Is there a sub file I should look for? Nothing happens, and I still can't finish the game. I must be doing something really dumb wrong, but I've used patches before with no problem. Any ideas?

Did you download it to your /programfiles/sirtech/wizardry8 and not unpack it? See if the unzipped file is sitting there. When unzipped it should definately give you a: wiz8.exe already exists do you wish to overwrite prompt.

There is a readme file in the patch that tells you how to do it. Just extract all the contents of the patch over the top of your Wizardry 8 directory. Make sure you keep folder names when you unzip it as there is a file that goes into a subdirectory.

Thanks everybody; when you mentioned that the patch looks for the wiz8.exe file, I realized I had moved that file to my desktop for easy access. as soon as I replaced it in the directory, the patch worked. I am now on my way...Great Game!
