My lvl 15 mage is starting to get maxed out. I have been trying to think what advantage/disadvantage would go with dualing her to Bishop. The advantages are obvious, many more spells and the additional spell points to all the realms from adding the extra spells. Has anyone done this? What, if any are the disadvantages?

You might be maxed as far as Wizardy and fire and water.. so on but are you casting Nuclear blast at full strenght? That would be a disadvantage to change.

This is what i was thinking of doing when I was totaly maxed.. (never happend last game).. I just don't like the idea of the Bishop, Jack of all Magic, Master of none. I personaly would wanted to change to Alchemist or Psionic. Why? you still have all the Wizardy and if your maxed who really cares about it not proving. So this way you gain the Alchemist Bonus or the Mental Bonus.

Just my my taughts. Do whats right for you.

Depending on the rest of your party, I would recommend it. I went with Mage to Bishop and Priest to Valkerie, haven't changed anyone else. Although the Valk does some good damage and healing, the Bishop seems far more versatile. I changed fairly early, though, so maybe some Bishop spells overlap with Mage. You do gain quick upgrading of alchemy with a Bish and much better armor, IMO. TANSTAAFL!

Good choice. You lose nothing really. I usually go from Priest to Bishop. I also go Alchemist/Mage to Bishop. My reasons are that the benifits of the Bishop class outwiegh the other magic using classes, but they take so long to increase their power.

The Priest-Bishop does most of the defensive/affect spell casting. The Mage-Alchemist does the offensive/assistance spell casting.

However, there comes a point in time when the Mage/Alchemist becomes a Bishop. This is earlier than you might expect considering the dual-leveling aspect (after 12-13 combined levels).

However, this is because the second bishop takes care of the Alchemist/Mage side, while the first continues with the Priest/Psionicist side.

Anyway, it's a good choice. Good luck.

Class changing a bishop is a waste IMO. A bishop is alreday a Priest/Mage/Alchemist/Psionic, so what use would dual classing be anyway?

I found my bishop not only to be more verstile than a specialist caster, but also way more powerful. Why? Well being able to learn _all_ spells has many many advantages:

1.) Way more spellpoints. Every spell you learn adds additional spellpoints to a realm. A bishop has more than twice the spellpoints of a specialist caster.
2.) Better skill improvement. Having more spellpoints + spells at his disposal, makes practicing school + realm skills much easier for a bishop. Especially because of the enchantments, that can be cast out of combat (Magic Screen, Missile Shield, X-Ray etc.).

The bishop can easily become a master of all schools, or at least 3 of them. The slower levelling is the only real downside of this class.
