Compared to the normal party setup how difficult is it playing 1 character as against 6?

I would guess you level up fairly quickly but does that flatten out after time?

What is the best character to use? I see alot of fairy ninjas ont he forum, is that for the cane?

If you do solo, what strategies do you use and why do you pick a certain class?

Solo?... I have doubts it can be done. My guess is that it would have to be the most well rounded character available in order to make it at all possible(maybe a singing fighter with magic abilities and a knack for tweaking on gadgets?).. possibly a Drach monk or samurai? or maybe a peaked Gadgeteer of some sort.. like to see if it canbe doe
.. you've tweeked my interest

In addition to my regular party, I'm currently experimenting with a solo Fairy ninja. The weapon you begin with ( the sleep inducing rod) is a real life saver early on.

Stealth is also absolutely vital. Curiously, I've noticed that monsters will ocassionally do nothing during turn, even when they have the ability (and the motive to attack. A benefit of stealth beyond the armor bonus?

I think the key to escaping the monastery alive is not leveling up beyond level four until you reach Arnika at least. This keeps the powerful monsters out of play until you choose to take your level increases (or you move into a dangerous area).

When I last played, I was in Arnika, taking advantage of the HLL and Lay Brothers for assistance during combat. If I could find two nunchuckas (sp?), that could be a potent weapon combo until other weapons come along.

I'm not certain if I will continue the experiment much further, but I am interested in hearing the thoughts of other players.

Cheers,
J

I've seen the following solo parties:

(1) Faerie Ninja
(2) Rogue (to L2) -> Lord
(3) Lord
(4) non-faerie Ninja
(5) Gadgeteer
(6) Bard->Alky->Rogue->Gadgeteer (L1/L1/L1 until Gadgeteer)

I'm the only one stupid enough to try 5 or 6. 5 just wasn't happening--I couldn't get past any 2 crabs (4 at Novice).

With 6, it's hard going...and I have to practice enough to be a potion builder/decent alchemist to survive (money/HPs/Stamina), but it's going.

Anyone ever tried a Bishop? Very hard in the early stages, but this seems to be the most rounded character. All the spells are available and you have a decent selection of armor/weapons available to you. A priest might also be a good choice.

As for the Faerie ninja being the hardest to solo, I'd have to put my money on the faerie mage as being the biggest challenge. She'd be dead in a single blow.
