Yes it is random.
You have to get a save of before you entered the Rattkin tree, in order of the objects to rerandomize. It is really bad that all the good stuff (Murasme, Zanoichi, *light*, CoC) is random or rare.

Megabot,
It's fairly easy to get the C of C. Just rest 24 hours (3 times) and the Don's inventory changes. There may be other ways, but this worked for me. Check out my thread "Barlone didn't have it!" for more details. D.I. |

This is weird, I have founfd the Don really easy to kill. I have fought the "Don" twice, both times with lvl 11->12 Rangers in the party. Both time the Rangers insta-killed him the first round. No fight at all. Maybe he is allergic to arrows?

Re: Rangers and instant Kills on the Don. Whiel my ranger didn't get the instant kill (despite my pleading through the first 15 rounds), he certainly was the most effective charcter against the Don. My Samurai, Monk, and Vi spent too much time quaffing potions to deal final blows. My archer sat in the back rank and tallied up the hits. It may have somethingh to do with the Don's types of attacks (melee and thrown with poison the predominant special attack) that make the ranged combat skills of the ranger so effective. Just wonderin' !

It's also quite useful to cough up a very large elemental as it seems to get the Don's attention.
