I just started a new game (alright this may be game 45 but I really think i have the perfect team now!) ther i was in upper monastery when i hide behind the crates....

...you can open the crates!!! There are three or four crates there that you can pick. Each one contains low level armor that really help out early on.

Cheers!

There is also a relatively high level cape in those crates obtainable only through a special method. Hint hint: Bells

yup! it drove me crazy. i knew it was meant for me to get to it, because i saw that plank conveniently placed so that i could use it to climb to the top of the crates.

when i saw that, i knew i couldn't rest till i solved it. took me quite awhile because to get there involved something that is usually not allowed in this game.

it was fun solving it, tho!!

oh, and it taught me something worth remembering early on: don't take anything for granted.

GREAT..........something else to do while I'm in the monestry...I have just crawled my way back to the monestry after enduring the Arnika road (again) with the wheel key. My ranger is drooling over the unidentifed bow that we got....my priest has given up trying to identify it grrrrr.
Now I just have to find these crates....oh well...back to the drawing board......and I'm starting to wounder........what other goodies have I missed (and will I miss).........maybe one day when I have finished this game I might just download a walkthrough. But at the moment I am still determined to go it alone....except for the general hints in this forum of course.....(I still have not opened any thread with a spoiler heading...I'm getting rather proud of myself LOL...well not exactly true...I have opened a couple but it has been in one eye and out the other and that is true)
thanks for the tip guys

LOL Thanks guys. Just picked up that cape now.

By the way, looks like my strategy for my characters so far is going well.

My samurai seems to actually be...killing stuff!

My guy is only lvl 6 now but I'm dumping 3 in str, 1 in dex, spd and senses.

He's Felpurr

So far, he's averaging 15-20 dam on a broadsword.
Though he only has 60 in senses, he's already done 3 instant kills in my last 3 battles.

His strength is already in the high 70's -80's.

All skill points go to Crit, Sword, Dual and Close Range.

I'm sooping up his strength first to get power strike early. Really, senses is useless except for the crits. I plan to boost dex and spd full after I get 100 in strength. I'm starting to wonder if strngeth also is a factor with crits.

Hope this helps.
