why is it that i can only set a one way portal? it seems like they should be 2 way so that i can portal out to my rest spot in Arnika, then portal right back to where i was.

in might&magic, you could set up 5 portals altho they were time limited. it would be nice to hop say from arnika to trynton then to where ever your last battling station is located.

i must be missing something. or do you have to have it learned by 2 people to use it to go back and forth to one spot? if so, can the other person just learn, say, Set Portal? or do they haveta learn both also?

it's monday, and i am especially wacky on mondays, so forgive a blonde her dumb questions. (imagine all 6 of us in the Blonde Brigade on a Monday and thank your lucky stars its only me! LOL)

I felt very similar V

But I guess that why they have the T'Rang Teleporter that goes to 4 locations and the Umpani Teleporter that goes to one spot. At least with these, you only have to travel to few places then telezap to a closer destination to where you want to go. I do have two casters with the portals spell to make that even easier. One for my return to stash one to set a return to where I was portal. It would even easier with more, but the fixed in game ones mentioned above can also simplify the vast travelling.

Just imagine your in Arnika and decide its time to hit the Rapax and do some of those quests. Think on how annoying and tiresome it would to walk through each land fighting random monsters after random monsters in each of those areas. -- YUK --
Even with X-Ray and dodging those baddies would still be hard to swallow.

I'll take the teleporting they we have to that kind of whacky travelling any day.

Just have it learned by 2 people. That's what I've done. Both my mage and my priest have set and return, and I use them frequently to jump back and forth to Arnika. It's not as hard as it sounds, since both spellbooks are easily available to find, buy, or steal.
As to your other question, yes, they must learn both. One spellcaster cannot "return" to a portal another has "set". So, having a character just learn "set portal" is pretty much useless... unless you like to waste spell points, that is!

okay, i get it now.

i got the spellbook thinking it was for both ways. i was really surprised when it was just for "Set Portal". LOL. but i had already taught it to my mage, so i was very happy when my priestess got BOTH in her level up! thank goodness!

dang, i guess i shoulda just sold the book, because its one point for both spells and you can't spend half a point learning one half of the spell. LOL!! there's my blonde brain at work....

::sighs:: i just got to the swamp and i really don't like that run from Arnika thru Trynton. it just takes me a looong time. oh well, maybe i will finally find that spider silk i need to outfit my little faerie mage. she's been a pain in the rear about that. "is it ready yet? is it ready yet? is it ready yet?" LOL!

~~morgalas~~

LOL! i don't even have a clue about the T'rang and Umpani yet! i don't know where they are, or even what they look like. i hope i get to find one of them soon, tho, because if they have teleporters, too, i want them!

Heh. You are getting close to at least one of the groups, V. Keep it up, and you'll have your first "close encounter"!

In the swamp, if you find a cave with some lizardmen guarding it, DONT GO IN! Head north across the river, and you'll be headed in the right direction. Have fun!
