Ok i have the Rift device. When i first picked up the second piece the eyeless was waiting when i came out of the room (instant death), this happened twice, the third time it was not there and i have not been able to get it to appear again here! is it supposed to be there??.
Now i have killed it, i looked around for ages , could not find it so i resorted to brute force ( attacked Gaal, i remembered this happened earlier, went on a killing spree ) and it appeared. If i carrying on playing and i was supposed to kill it without using brute force, will i miss anything? |

Doesn't matter how u kill it. Also, that is a side quest anyway, no bearing on the plot.

You're supposed to put the rift device in a quickslot and use it on the Unseeing Eye. It will remove all his protections and take him down to one hitpoint. Throw a rock at him or something and he'll keel over.

It disappeared on me too. One of my party members died while confronting him (with the rift device in the quickslot) and I quickloaded the game to just a while before. The eye never appeared again.

Hmm, Tanis, remember that this topic is long over one year old, so it's no point in just bumping them up. If you're looking for help, post a own topic, as none of these guys still are around.

Ways to Make the Unseeing Eye Appear:
- Join the two parts of the Rift Device - Give the 1st half to Gaal If Gaal turning hostile to you also makes the Eye show up, so much the better. If you tried both of the 2 methods listed above and he still doesn't arrive, reload. Fighting the Eye without the Rift Device isn't hard at all, as I found out. He's even easier to kill than a single Gauth.

if you pick up the second half of the Rift Device, it reforms, you get an overhead message, and then save, bad stuff can happen. If you face him, he kills you or stuns your whole party, and you load your post-Rift save, the Unseeing Eye will almost never appear. you can download a Baldurdash patch to prevent this, or just not save between the time you pick up the rod and when you use it on him.
other note: use the rift device AFTER he puts up his spell protections. otherwise, you will still have to remove them to get rid of that one hit point. best strategy is to take 2 chars: 1 to Rift him, the other to Magic Missile him. If you fight him without the RD, he's quite hard.
