Reward for fetching the body?

This happened to me a while ago in my game, but it still bugs me. After Lothander told me I was poisoned, I went to the water queen as expected. After I was sent to the Lady's Hall, on the way I bumped into the child and landed up in the "raise the dead child quest". So, I returned to the Water Queen with the tome, and sorted the geas out. I spoke to her again, and she told me I had to pay 2000 for the body - despite me helping her get her damn bowl earlier. I loaded an earlier game just to check, and when I went to her in that game she offered the body free as a reward for earlier services rendered. Anyway, I figured it was just a flaw in the game that happens if you wait until the poisoning before getting the body, and paid the 2000. When I returned with the body, however, the cleric raises the child, tells him to behave in future, and leaves! Once he is raised I cannot talk to him again. So, I am 2000 out of pocket - and no reward. Ungrateful sods. Is this all just a bug resulting from my doing the two water Queen quests at once? Please enlighten me, if anyone has an idea....
