WoW!!! I was expecting this movie to be horrible based on reviews saying how horrible it was. But I really loved this movie, guess all those reviewers just forgot to listen. I fould it very interesting and thought provoking.

Is it at the theatre now, or on video? What's the basic story?

It is on video now, but the reviews for the theater was quite bad. Basically a tenant keeper (not sure the correct name of people who work in the apartment buildings, caretaker isn't quite the correct term but you get the idea) finds this naked chick in the apartment complexs swiming pool, and he has to help her deliver the message before she can return to the sea, she is a sea nymph, and ages ago man used to talk to these ladies in the water but forgot how to listen, and waged war upon war on each other. Anyway that is about the jist of it save for some interesting tenents who need to help the nymph deliver her message and allow her to return. It is sort of a complex plot and hard to tell about without giving out to many details.

Sounds pretty good. Would you class it as a drama or something else.
Edit: Superintendent is the term we commonly use here. [ 12-25-2006, 05:45 AM: Message edited by: Variol (Farseer) Elmwood ]

I enjoyed it, it was a wonderfully executed modern day Fairy Tale, and one that the whole family could watch and enjoy. It fit very nicely onto the list of excellent Shaymallan (sp?) films, all of which have something to recommend them even if flawed (The Villiage), and some of which are truly outstanding (Unbreakable, Sixth Sense).

Spoiler Comments in Gray, Non-Spoiler comments in Blue.
I'll weigh in and say that I rented it today and I liked it. I would not have been as enthused to have seen it in the theater, because the big screen would not have enhanced the viewing pleasure. However, the story was good, the plot was great; I liked the way things did not work out the way they were thought to be at first (ie. plot twists)...and the crazy wolf-thing was really a great antagonist as to keep the whole supernatural aspect of it alive, since the sea nymph could be forgotten as being non-human by the audience. The plot played out in a quiet way, and was not the type of action and intensity one gets from a car chase or whatever...it was more calm except for when the wolf-thingy was out and about. Even then, there was no amazing fight scenes with it or anything that would have ruined the whole story, because the repair man was not that sort of hero. He wanted to fight the thing to help save the nymph, but he was just a scared human that could not have hoped to win against it. There was another that was to be the one to keep that wolf at bay, and I knew who that was from the beginning. It was too easy. Which brings me to my next point. The critic. The critic in the story is unlikeable and has a moment in the story where he tries to show off that he is smarter than the story. I think that was a great jab at movie critics, and I applaud the story for putting that in. All said and done, I would definately advise this movie as a rental to story lovers like us who look for a bit of magic to come save us from the mundane life we live. [ 12-28-2006, 02:28 PM: Message edited by: Larry_OHF ]

Not reading any spoilers. I have this movie for work tonight. After the hockey game I am going to pop it in.

Wow I'm surprised Pritchke. I too thought from the reviews and the commercials for the movie it was going to suck. Will check it out soon now that I know.
