YOu lose the lot at the start of the game. A couple of items you get back, if you find them, but the majority of your stuff you never get back.

It would be such a cheese to have the gold carry over. I had easily close to a million gold. I'd be able to over-equip so quickly the game would lose it's challenge untill later in the game.

But of course, if you really want the extra gold in the beginning of BG2 you can always console it in.

There is a mod that allows you to keep your stuff when you go to BG2. There's also a cheat to keep it, and I'll go into details if you'd like.

I don't think there's anything to let you keep your money or Reputation, though.

Well, you DO keep some things,,, you gotta find them. Everything was taken from you when you were captured and tortured. The torture was so traumatic you were even permanently level drained. And now you are out for payback. This is, of course, the 'roleplaying' way to go. If you want the powergame route, there are beaucoup cheats, just look them up.

I wasn't aware of any level drain as a result of the torture, Elfbane. Last time I played through I'm pretty sure I kept my levels. But then, that was a long time ago, so I may be mistaken.

Yes, please explain. Unless you're using a XP cap remover in BGI, I can't think of what you mean.

I think he meant it is possible to get higher levels at the end of bg1 than the lvl of a PC you start in bg2, and so you have to use your imagination as to where those lvls went.

[/QUOTE]How is that possible, without an XP Cap remover? You usually start BGII at 89,000 XP, which is the cap in BGI. If you import a TotSC character, you can be imported with up to 161,000 XP.

I believe the way that you can cheat to keep your items (but not your gold) is to quickly pause the game before it starts (the screen should still be black). Then drop all of your stuff and pick it up afterwards. I can't confirm if this actually works, although I've read that it works.
