Although I've only just started this trilogy (by Philip Pullman) I'm am SO impressed with it. It really grabs you and never lets you go. I regret having to start with the third book (didn't know it was a trilogy at first, and I got 'The Amber Spyglass' for Christmas last year).

Kudos Pullman! Really an intruiging story!!

Get the other two first and start with those!! You don't want to miss out on them and there's no point at all reading books in an order other than the author intended.
My boyfriend's reading the books to me, we've just finished the second one. Brilliant, absolutely great series.

Well.. it was merely an 'accident' that I read the third book before I read the other two. I must stress the fact though, that if my parents had never bought this book, I would probably had never heard of them or read them at all. Nevertheless it was probably some mistake that made them buy 'em

BTW: I do hope that you're being read to in English Mel.. otherwise I'll chastise you

Don't be silly, Link. We're both students of English Literature, I wouldn't read something like Pullman in Dutch if I can deal with Donne, Shakespeare or Pynchon in English.

Anyway, it's a shame you had to read the third book first - don't spoil me, by the way, I'm still anticipating how it picks up the storyline of the second book.
