I am now east of Beregost over were them damn creatures that turn your characters to Stone and take them out of your party completely. A few of my characters can resist the first few attacks but eventually they will be hit, I have been lucky taking on 2 of them things and killing them without them killing any of my characters. Down the bottom of the map there are 3 of them and 1 is special and they are whipping my ass everytime I come near them. The only other part of the map I have left to do is where that wizard is with his cretaures and so I desperately need to know where I can get some potions or spells that can resist it? Remember I have killed Thalantyr of Highhedge.

One thing that should be noted is that even though you have a saving throw vs. petrification, for some reason when fighting basilisks you use your save vs. death. But I'm not complaining here, your save vs. death is usually considerably lower. Look for potions of Mirrored Eyes. That will stop their effects from working. Or, you could try to put heavy saving throw buffs on a warrior and rush the beast. Try to lure out the Lesser ones before trying to take on a Greater. The Greater Basilisks are able to petrify about two to three times as often, attack extremely fast when in melee mode, and their attack can poison. However, they make up for it with a VERY high XP reward. If you attempt to melee with basilisks, that can usually make them switch and stop using their gaze attack. Or, if you have a thief, attempt to backstab. Cast Invisibility on your whole party (or at least the best melee warriors) and have everyone sneak up on them!
-Brainless One EDIT: Oh, ha, I realized right after I posted that I had forgotted the two most obvious strategies. You can buy some Stone to Flesh Scrolls from temples, or you can use the second-level mage spell, "Protection from Petrification"...hmm...I wonder what it does? -Brainless One [ 01-09-2005, 12:25 PM: Message edited by: Brainless One ] |

yeah i was wondering when you wer gonna mention that one. if they are tunred to stone, you can buy stone to flesh scrolls from the temple that is directly west of the basslisk area. i think the temple at the FAI also sells them if im not mistakem. fireball maybe also a good tactic, although i cant remember if they have resistance to fire or any other magic
