I am confused. I just finished the Chronicles and Legends trilogies that my friend recommended I start with to introduce me into the world of Dragonlance. Great books, especially the Legends trilogy which really had me at the edge of my seat. But now I don't know which books are "next" so to speak. I looked at the Dragonlance Novel Guide at the Wizards of the Coast web site, but its brief descriptions didn't do much to help. What books are next in order, or recommended to be read next?

Also...

[Possible spoiler about Test of Twins ending]

I didn't quite understand the ending of The Test of the Twins. What happens to Raistlin? Does he die at the hands of the Dark Queen? The book didn't really say... and it *is* Raistlin after all, who has yet to be deafeted... Perhaps this is explained in another book?

The tales trilogy came next (in order of publishing). It has a bunch of short stories, including tales of Caramon and Tika's kids. Then came Heroes and Preludes, but I forget which was first (Heroes, I think...) Read Chronicles 4 (Summer Flame) after the Tales, because it takes place many years after the end of the Legends trilogy.
Raistlin did not die. Basically he was kept alive to be tortured in hell forever. You will see more of him, though.
edit: I am not sure what comes next because when I was reading Preludes, I read Kendermore and I hated it it so much it turned me off the series (even though I had already bought the next few books) until Dragons of Summer Flame

Ah, Dragonlance...i'm not too sure what order to read them but i have read pretty much all of them and there seems to be a LOT of the books take place 'between' the stories of the 'main' series' like legends and Chronicles.
Why not ask your friend? Dragonlance was one of the most rewarding continuing series i've ever come across, even if there have been some rather disappointing books out occaisionally, such as eg. Kendermore
Be sure to read the "Preludes" trilogy and the Books that are set before Chronicles & Legends as well

It has been a while since I read those, but after you read the main 3 novels (The Chronicle trilogy: Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Spring Dawning and another one I forgot the name ), you should move on to Dragon of Summer's Flame.

Then, you should move on to the War of Souls trilogy.
