I need to read a book of my own choice for an English Assesment task... I was thinking of the Dark Elf trilogy (sp ??)... so, is this a good choice for a year 10 English Assesment, and if so, does anyone know of any place to get it in New South Wales ??

If it matters, the assesment is to read it and speak about it.

First off It is the best book I have ever read, secondly there is a lot of material that could be useful for an english assignment, especially the little excepts by Drizzt at the start of each book one thing you learn about Drizzt is that he is a very philoshphical fellow.

One problem you might encounter is reading it before assignment is due in as it is quite a long read, but a very good one if you have the time.

Yes nice book. Dunno about availability in New South Wales, but the book is more likely to be available in Roleplaying/Trading Card/Figurines shops than in book shops, that's the case in Europe anyway.

I really can`t express my feelings for this book enough, it`s GREAT. You really feel you`re there with the characters and everything is so well done. I`ve read lots of fantasy books, and Lord of the rings has been my absolute favorite all the way but after reading this one I wasn`t so sure anymore. Both great in their own ways.I don`t quite agree with Daniel, sure it`s lots of pages(about 880 I think) but it will go FAST, I promise you=)If you can`t find it in any bookstores near you, order it from www.amazon.co.uk

Post a thread here when you`ve read it cause I know you will=)

Ok, because I needed a book in a hurry (I have 3 weeks from now to completely finish it, and have a speach ready), ive decided to go with an Agatha Christie novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles... ill keep my eye out for the Dark Elf trilogy though, even if I dont do it for this assignment...

The first book is a bit slow to start off but once it's started its a jet powered rollercoaster

The trilogy is very good - I would not say the best, but they are good. The original books are hard to come by, but I seem to remember seeing them in one large book, newly printed.

Now for the best series ever : David Eddings books about Sparhawk
- SIMPLY THE BEST - i like his rough edges, he's not an angel, and his friends are just magnificient. The best described characters ever !!!
