I recently bought R A Salvatore's Icewindale Trilogy second hand, and I was wondering how good the series really is. I'm really anticipating reading it, finishing an Eddings book first, so I'm also wondering what it's like compared to general Eddings books, and even what its like compared to Starless Night, which I have read.
No spoilers please, or no big spoilers....
Thanks in advance

Yes, I agree. Although the IWD trilogy came out first. Chronologically, the dark elf trilogy is first in the story of Drizzt Do'Urden. I thought it was pretty good personally. Just make sure to remember that this trilogy was Bob Salvatore's first.

I've read the Dark Elf Trilogy. I really liked the Homeland and the Sojourn. My sister recently bought me the collector's edition of IW trilogy as a present for my nameday (we celebrate this in Greece exactly as birthday). It has all three of them insisde. I just hope it's good.

personally I think that Bob Salvatore is a much better writer than Eddings, I loved the belgariad, but the malorian was the same story, with slightly more power for the protagonists, the Elenium was decent, but I couldn't force myself to read very much of the Tamuli, having an author rethink his entire idea for a world is a huge pet peeve of mine...
