I've just ordered Memnoch the Devil...

The best of Anne Rice's books that I have read previously, (only read about 3) was 'Servant of the Bones', but I decided to get Memnoch on account of Moderator Memnoch!
Is it anything like Servant of the Bones, or is it more like the Vampire Lestat books?

It is meant to be book five of the Vampire Lestat story.
Good book, but my wife won't let me have them in our house. I have them hidden away at a friend's...

Have you read the other Lestat books? This one is ...interesting ... read my Anne Rice thread here.

I think out of all of the Five I read, I think I like Lestat the best. Just MHO, though. This one is good too, but in an entirely different sort of way.

Larry? I understand how your wife feels! I would NEVER have given them house-room myself a few years ago - then I got corrupted by an enthusiastic teenage Saturday boy at the library, lol, and started on Servant of the Bones, which I found excellent - 'cept Anne Rice just doesn't know how to end a book satisfactorily! Then I read The vampire Lestat, and the one with the little vampire girl in it which was more sad than horrific.

i dont think of anne rice as horror.
the vampires are the protagonists. and i would read all the vampire books before memnoch. queen of the damned is one of the greatest. and you'll be wondering why lestat is so buff in memnoch if you dont read it first. you can leave out tales of the body thief if you want to. but you still wont understand some of the allusions to it made by Memnoch the Devil
