Resets? And parking characters?

Was just in the Undermountain.. thought I'd do a few things I hadn't been able to do last few times I logged in and found that the place hadn't reset all day!
Someone let me know that they thought it was possible a char had been parked in the Inn all day while player was away.

I know we all have to be away from the keyboard for a few minutes here and there and I hardly ever notice or have a problem if someone goes off for even as much as a half hour..but all day? Like I said, don't mind if someone has to get a snack, answer the door, use the bathroom.. LOL, we all have those issues.. so a little bit is fine.. but all day or several hours isn't cool.

Not sure on this one as I was told it MIGHT have been several hours. I know that I logged out at 2pm-ish today and at 9:30pm it was the same set.. no reset. I had helped a new player go through a few levels/haunted isle and left him in the armory in Waterdeep...and nearly 8 hrs later was in the same place when I logged back in! When I left there were only the new guy and two others (incl Garnet who mentioned this elsewhere) on the list of players. Dunno if anyone else logged in after that.. must have, I guess.


Of course I saw where others are saying it isn't resetting even when empty.. so unless names aren't showing up and are still logged in.. there may be a glitch of some sort not letting it reset?

Has there been a recurring issue with resets not working? Or is there a longer time lag between the empty server and a reset now for some reason? Just curious!

Oh and GLAD to see the place is busy! Or seems so, any time I log on!

Well, I guess it's time to tell on myself, but not about parking chars in the Inn. I have two accounts in Undermountain, my usual robertthebard, and Elvirothrade...Not trying to trick anyone really, but was looking at an article about online interactions, and thought I'd try an experiment. Yep, the cat's out of the bag. Anyway, I went down the well to start my long trek to lvl 12 1/2 to get this sword for my fighter, and there was a char parked at the entrance to the well, 1/2 an hour later, I had to log my other char, to get me and Garnet unstuck from the gate between lvl 2 and Skullport,and the same char was there, and hadn't moved. Subsequent checks of the player list showed the char still in game, but I had no way to know where it was. I was in game for a considerable amount of time, going deeper in, and stayed a bit longer after I'd gotten my sword to help Stone Warrior, get the stone from the lake. I didn't log my other account in, so I don't know if the server had had a chance to reset all day or not.

If you see people doing this, write down their character name, and logon name. And I'll deal with them [img]smile.gif[/img]

Bemused? Why would anyone park a character? If the lvls have been cleared out you're better off with a reset anyway because there's nothing left to do - or is that the point and I'm just not spiteful enough that it would occur to me?

Here's a possible scenario that I've actually seen in the server where I DM; Join a party, go afk, and let the other players get your xp for you in party based xp. What gets you caught is when the rest of the party bails out, and leaves you sitting someplace secure doing absolutely nothing.

Well, I know that Robert and I were playing all afternoon. It looks as if he continued after I finally logged off (some 9 hours or so later -- it was a lovely romp ).

I'm wondering why someone parked their character, IF that's what happened (it does seem so). Both stones on level 10 were there so whomever it was wasn't after that......

It's GREAT to see EfU so busy lately.

Well, if it's a glitch with logging out or resets etc, no big deal and not a problem, but if they're deliberately leaving their chars parked for extensive periods, it's definitely annoying!

LOL, outed at last, RTB! I don't think it's a crime to have more than one account, though.
