I rolled myself a monk this morning but I am noticing I am not attacking with my 2nd hand? Is that possible or am I missing a feat such as Ambidexterity in order to do it?

Thanks

Firstly, are you fighting unarmed, or with weapons? Sometimes the animations won't show the off hand attacks, in fact, sometimes, at later lvls, you won't see most of your unarmed, or kama equipped attacks. It's to do with the rendering, I think, but you will still do damage. Watch the server side window and it will tell you what attacks your doing, and watch for off hand attacks. You don't have to have the Ambidexterity feat to use two weapons, but it does help.

I am using no weapons. I am basing my question on the fact when I look at my stats for attack it shows "Not applicable" in the offhand section while my main hand is showing 3 attacks with pluses of like 16/10/7.

Unarmed attacks only use the main hand. Two weapon fighting and ambidexterity feats only apply to weapons- not bare hands.

Monks use a special attack progression when using bare-handed attacks. You will note that the progression goes down by three for unarmed attacks i.e. 13/10/7 rather than by five for a weapon such as a dagger i.e. 13/8/3.

There is a special weapon called a Kama that uses the monk's unarmed progression (-3 per swing) table. This can be exploited to give the monk upto 10 attacks per round pre-epic.

The not applicable applies to a weapon. You are not using a weapon, so your off hand would have no bonuses. Think like this, the attack bonus applies right/left/right on your on hand. When or if you use kamas, dual wielding, it will show an attack base for the off hand kama, but when unarmed, your hands are not considered weapons, for the purpose of off hand ab.

Here is an easy way to see how many attacks you are getting per round. Put on an item with regeneration. Every round you will see the yellow message stating that your character has regenerated X amount of hitpoints count the attacks between the regen messages.

Here are a few more monk related questions for everyone. After having watched some of the Clone Wars cartoons, I began to wonder about some of the Jedi characters. I know that most would be fighter, sorcerer, or cleric as a main class, but after watching how they portrayed Jedi Master Mace Windu (who really OUGHT to have "Bad MuthaPh****" on his lightsaber), I figured he would be Monk/Wizard or Monk/Cleric/Weaponmaster - something like that. How would one go about building a character like THAT?

Secondly, Jedi Master Yoda seemed to also have more of a monk-like quality to him, but is far more the meditating kind. So would one use a Monk/Cleric build for him? (okay, you'd need LETO to actually find a body suitable for him, but let's give him Gnome for the race to start off with, okay?)

Basic problems with monk mixes are that Weaponmaster abilities don't apply to unarmed strike and any mixed character needs to wear robes or lose the monk abilities.

Monk/Wizard offers a way to pale master, Monk/sorcerer to RDD.

I've never really had any luck with these combinations but let me know how you get on if you try them Mozenwrathe.

Well, if I were to attempt a Monk to Weaponmaster build, first I'd have to have some clue as to what I was doing in terms of builds. *laughs at myself* I would figure it would be a few monk levels, then the rest of the leveling would be based on getting the skills required to become a Weaponmaster (longsword). After all, the lightsaber (being either longsword, bastard sword, katana, greatsword, or twin-bladed longsword types) would have to be the primary focus of the character. As there isn't an offical spellsword class within standard NeverWinter Nights, you would be essentially making it from scratch, but with a twist or three. I know the Darth Maul build I downloaded was purely Fighter/Monk. Though the issue would be to find a way to get those kama bonuses into the longsword somehow.
