I don't know if anyone else has run into this.

I just tried to log in to Undermountain using direct connect but was timed out and told the server was disconnected.

I checked gamespy which told me that the server was up and running. Eventually I got in but only by calling up the server details through gamespy and then connecting once the server details were on screen.

Is it just me and my PC or is there a more general problem with direct connection here?

Checked again since my previous post and think I see it now.

According to gamespy the last 4 digits of the server's IP address are now 5122 rather than 5121.

Is this likely to be a permanent change or is it just a glitch?

Guys something to be careful of is that as we are now on a instant reset if you log out then you have to wait about 5 minutes before the server is ready to log back in again. This gives the server time to reset and get back up again.

Many time you may see the server going up and down in gamespy because people keep loggin in (and usually it times out or doesn't bring up your characters) If you do get on and your server vault characters arn't there then keep that screen up and eventually they will come up.

You all wanted resets when empty! So you gotta be patient while it resets. It takes roughly 3 mins and 36 seconds to reset. If someone logs in during the reset, it resets all over. (thats why I turned it off, people kept hitting the server).

I'm happy with it as it means more people can play with an empty server. Maybe a sign in the tavern advising people of the reset and the wait time would educate people ?

Cool, thats fine Z whatever makes it faster, though there was a 1-2 hour gap between when I First saw it offline to when I tried to connect later on...

Thought I'd post again and try to be clearer as to why I started this thread.

Yesterday the server for some reason had a different IP address (see second post on this thread). Anyone trying to log in under the usual address would have been told the server was disconnected. In fact it was still online but under a different number.

This would probably only have affected regulars who log in by direct connect or on-screen icon. Anyone logging in through gamespy and the "server detail" route would automatically connect to the server's new address.

I just wanted to draw attention to this so that someone who knows the system better could check it out and see if this was a one-off problem. If it is likely to happen again it may be worth posting some sort of advice or warning.

By the way, I'm very happy with instant reset and, yes, I do wait for the server to settle down before hitting it.

I haven't had time to play for a few weeks but hope to get on this weekend, so I'm glad the resets are still an option!
