I don't have SoU, and was wondering if it's needed to join the game... I didn't see any similar threads so I thought I'd check, I do have all the latest patches.

In version 1.30 you needed a SoU client to connect to any SoU server. In version 1.31 its changed somehow, I believe you can connect to a SoU server with a NWN client, but only if the server isnt using any SoU content.

Unfortunately EfU does contains SoU content, so you will be needing SoU to play. The good news is the SoU is worth it in its own right.

Nope, it isn't Sorry.. Why not buy SoU? It's a great add-on, and is pretty cheap now.
