Can't reach the master's assistant

in level 2 of the ruins in HotU that is. spoilers below, so stop reading now it you can't help me.

I know where to find the assistant, but the door is trapped AND locked, and i have absolutely nada skills to bypass that problem. I had Tomi with me for a while, but couldn't bring him along into the Underdark for some reason, i travel with the Drow woman instead now, and she's no good at disabling traps and lockpicking either. I also can't seem to bash the door down, must be the first in the entire game so far.

So now i have a problem, i need that password from him. The only other option, fighting the two kickass Golems doesn't work out too well, i've tried and it wasn't pretty.

So how do i get passed that friggin door ?

Is that the door where there's this little rat standing next to it? Talk to it ( you probably need to be a druid or a ranger to talk to that rat ). If you are not that class then your option is limited.

I choose to fight the golems. Very easy. For me of course.

Then what's your secret ? I get waxed by those golems time and time again. And my two henchmen aren't doing any better. My character is a fighter, so talking to rats isn't an option.

IIRC, whats through that door is only useful to one of the classes that can get through that door.

But Ive never been through it myslef. I have a wizard somewhere in the underdark I could take out of stasis. But Morrowind has hold of me right now.

"Phew, finally managed to kill the golems, only to find myself facing another huge problem. How do hell does one kill a creature like that Demi Lich ? do i need anything special ?

You got the talking sword? Improve the talking sword by adding enchantment into it. I upped mine till +8 ( or is it +9 ) and it have many other things. Monsters just fall down within seconds.

I upgraded it twice, the first time it went up to +5, the second time i chose to add fire damage. I went into the Underdark first, to gain some extra XP and cash. By now i have so much money, i can easily upgrade it to a +7 or even a +8 sword. I guess i'll give it another try once that's done then.

Don't bother, unless you are a mage you'll find the reward useless.

If your going to be using the sword as your main weapon add some Acid damage to it. It will help you later on down the track.

I can't, i've already upgraded it with fire damage. or is there a way to undo that ?
