This is a bit of a rant about the Aurora:

1) Why do all the people look either like a Huge northerner or a bearded Calisham wizard? Can't we have some normal looking people?

2) Tilesets seriosuly lack diversity. All towns look way to northern, dark and gloomy. The mood, even on mornings is heavy.

3) lack a lot of fav monsters, even after HoU.

Some vailid points and I agree with most. Many of the people do look weird, we need more 'average' citizens. Mnay of the best monsters have been left out of NWN's, something which I've always hated. The tilesets I do like though, I find with the right colouring, sounds and other environmental modifications you can change the atmosphere to that of anything you want.

1. The problem with having 'normal' looking models would be that they are so plain. The characters don't have the most detailed faces in a game so adding normal looking guys and gals would make them quite inconspicuous. But I agree to some extent, more plain models would be more realistic but that counts for NPC's as well. None of them look like the average medieval person.

2. Quite alot of the NWN games takes place in the north so it's logic that most of them would look 'northern'.

Some time ago I played a module called 'The Way of the Open Hand' which supposedly took place on a Chinese island so the tilesets were of course an issue. The module builder handled it quite well though despite the lack of appropiate tilesets. After you got in to the setting you hardly noticed it.

3. Which monsters would that be?

Well I have at least 2 CDRs full of hak content thats full of new tilesets, PC parts, weapons, items, objects, and many, many, monsters.

I understand wanting the the moon from BioWare themselves. That said, with CC creators like CODI, DLA, amongst other groups and individuals, as well as the Community expansion pak project that aims to bring whole lot of CC together under a definite standard of quality I see a different picture.

I have to applaude BioWare for making it *fairly* easy for the community to expand the diversity of the Aurora toolset. Perhaps I am just looking at the glass being half-full.

Who said it was for the PC? This may very well be heroic fantasy, but I wasn't aware everyone was a hero.

Indeed in present-day D&D villanious and evil parties seem to be just as favoured.

the great thing about NWN is it's modability. and there's a lovely sticky thread on the official forum that has a very decent list of mods that address some of your concerns very nicely. from new heads to favorite monsters to more races and classes to mounts to ai improvement. very professional too.
